The core of the SeaMACS is the Alarm and Monitoring. The redundant architecture of the system is designed to allow minimum downtime by providing optimum reliability. Any downtime can in the worst case induce costs and damage to equipment, therefore the ability to have redundancy both at the top level and the lower level is a standard part of the design.
In order to meet future requirements for SCADA networks the system is Ethernet-based. Ethernet is capable of handling large amounts of data, it is transparent and scalable. The SeaMACS integrated automation system is built around this principle and can easily be expanded or modified for future upgrades or add-ons, with minimum impact on the existing system.
