Thruster Control Upgrade for Passenger Ferry
M/F Vederøy, a ferry operating in the Oslo fjords, Norway, has been upgraded from the old Aquamaster bridge control system. The new bridge control system, LMB-2100 delivered by Lyngaa Marine, was successfully installed by Heinzmann Automation AS.
The new system is designed to reliably manage the vessel from three different steering positions and includes a follow-up function. The system communicates with the engine, gearbox and propeller, providing comprehensive control. The 7-inch display offers the operator vital information, including engine speed and direction, ensuring precise navigation.
The existing autopilot was successfully integrated with the LMB-2100 system, which features dual feedback sensors for each azimuth thruster and a standalone emergency backup, ensuring enhanced reliability and safety.
The thrusters and diesel engines remain unaffected by the retrofit, allowing operators to continue using existing spare parts for these components.
